Build Responsibly

Make informed choices when you renovate or build a new home.

Flooding and construction

Residing in a floodplain carries a risk that you can, to some extent, prepare for and mitigate. If you’re rebuilding, repairing, adding to your home, or constructing a new building, consider your property’s flood risk as part of the construction process. Utilizing resilient construction techniques and materials will save you money in the long run and help keep your family and belongings safe.

Applicable regulations

Pequannock has regulations to help reduce flood risk for construction projects. They can be found in our local floodplain ordinance.

Any development action in the floodplains requires a development permit prior to construction. Always check with the Township Construction or Engineering Departments before you build on, alter, regrade, or use fill on your property (see contact information below).

Please help keep our community safe through compliance. If you see construction or use of fill, without a Township permit sign posted, please contact the Construction Department.
